MGM Hospital to Become Kolhan’s Regional ICU Training Hub

In a significant move to bolster healthcare infrastructure in the state, the Jharkhand Health Department has announced plans to establish MGM Medical College and Hospital as the Regional Training Hub for Intensive Care Units (ICU) for the Kolhan region. This initiative aims to standardize and elevate the quality of critical care across government medical facilities.

Developing Advanced Training Infrastructure

Under this new mandate, a Basic and Advanced Training Center will be developed within the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. The Health Department’s Additional Chief Secretary, Ajay Kumar Singh, has already issued the necessary directives to the medical college management to initiate preparations.

The primary objective of this hub is to equip doctors and healthcare workers currently serving throughout the Kolhan division with advanced techniques for treating patients in critical condition.

Timely Treatment for Emergency Patients

The Principal of MGM Medical College, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, emphasized that the development of this center will lead to a “notable improvement” in the treatment of serious ailments in government hospitals. Key areas of focus will include:

• Heart Attacks
• Strokes
• Multi-organ Failure
• Accident and Trauma victims

“By training our workforce in the latest ICU protocols, we ensure that patients in our region receive better medical care during the golden hour,” Dr. Kumar stated.

Phased Training Program

The project aims to make the healthcare staff “expert” in critical care. The training will be conducted in a phased manner, covering doctors and medical staff from:

1. District Hospitals
2. Sub-divisional (Anumandal) Hospitals
3. Other government health institutions

This strategic development is expected to decentralize high-quality emergency care, reducing the burden on major city centers and ensuring that advanced life-saving treatments are available closer to the residents of the Kolhan division.
