Jamshedpur, June 23: MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur has introduced a new initiative aimed at streamlining patient registration and reducing waiting times through the implementation of registration via the Abha (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) mobile app. This move comes in response to the long queues traditionally faced by patients at the hospital’s OPD registration counters. QR codes have been installed at three locations within the hospital premises, enabling patients to initiate the registration process by scanning these codes using the Abha app.
Sandeep Soren, the Project Manager overseeing the initiative, noted that a similar app has been successfully deployed at Sadar Hospital, where it has already seen usage by 50 out of 450 patients. This new system allows patients to register from their smartphones without needing to stand in line for extended periods. Instead, after scanning the QR code and confirming their registration via OTP, the patient’s information is instantly transmitted to the OPD counter’s computer.
Once registered through the app, patients proceed to the counter to provide their OTP and share details about their illness. They receive a registration slip, which they can then present directly to the doctor, eliminating additional waiting times. This streamlined process aims to improve patient convenience and reduce congestion at the hospital.
For patients without access to smartphones, the traditional manual registration option at the counter remains available. However, hospital authorities encourage the use of the Abha app to enhance efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services.
