Saraikela, April 11: Unbearable heat and humidity that had exhausted the people of Saraikela, Sini and nearby localities were swept away by the sudden gathering of dark clouds accompanied by strong winds. A heavy downpour followed accompanied by hailstones and denizens heaved a sigh of relief as mercury dipped appreciably to make the weather comfortable and pleasant.

But all was not well with the sudden mood change of the weather. Crops like water melons, chilly, tomatoes and bottle gourds that were ready for the market were more than partially damaged. Temporary huts selling local rice beer (Hadia), tea and snacks stalls were either blown away or damaged. Electric supply was stalled for hours thereby throwing a spanner of discomfort in the wheel of relief.
