Memo given to DC against school merger plan

Jamshedpur: A delegation of villagers from Haludbani East panchayat met East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar on Thursday and handed over a memorandum to him demanding revocation of the school merger plan in Tilkagarh. The villagers said the district education department had planned to merge the primary school in Tilkagarh with some other school. The merger would have an adverse impact on the education of local children as they will not be able to go to other schools situated far away, said the villagers.

Leading the delegation, the deputy Mukhiya of Haludbani East panchayat Sita Manjhi said all local residents were opposed to the idea of merging government schools. She said the education department should drop its merger plan since the Tilkagarh school had its own pucca building, toilet and furniture.
