Meghalaya CM visits Tata Steel

Jamshedpur: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma arrived in the city on Saturday on an invitation from Tata Steel.

He will be visiting the plant and seeing the production work and functioning of the company. He was received by the Managing Director of Tata Steel TV Narendran.

Sources said the Cm left for Kolkata in the evening. Speaking to mediapersons, he said he had come here to see the scientific method used in mining and the training being given in Tata Steel.

He said the mining activities were still running in a unorganized manner in Meghalaya and was more like a cottage industry. He said he was working on a policy to organize the mining activities in the state.

He said the knowledge gained in the city could be utilized in Meghalaya. He said Tata Steel could also be given an invitation to set up a unit in Meghalaya.
