Jamshedpur, Dec 20: The usual air of joy, elation and excitement prevailed at the campus as DBMS English School organized its Annual Sports Day (2022-’23) at its playground on Tuesday, December 20. The sporting spirit and camaraderie among competitors and sports enthusiasts of the school’s Blue, Green, Red and Yellow Houses was very much in evidence as they vied for the awards in the medley of track and field events.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Olympian and Tata Steel’s Senior Sports Manager, Anand Menezes who unfurled the Sports Flag and declared the meet open. Students of classes X to XII of the four Houses set the tone of the day with a smart march-past. The parade was led by the Commander in Chief, Suprit Patnaik who was followed by members of the School Senate, the National Squad and the Captains and Vice Captains of the four houses leading their respective teams. The torch bearers signalling the commencement of the DBMS Annual Sports Day were Amandeep Kaur of class X E and Sheetal Singh of VIII D.
A creative and exciting drill display by the students of class VII, ‘Shimmer and Shine’ was a tribute to Indian sportspersons for their achievements at the Commonwealth Games—2022. Next in the list of excitements was the Karate Drill presented by the students of classes IV to VII. Not to be overshadowed with the scintillating displays, the students of class III presented ‘Song of the Sea’, a synchronistic drill display while their class V counterparts added to the adrenaline flow with their drill, ‘Flow with Rhythm’ showcasing a variety of Yog Asans. Various track and field events marked every moment with a keen sense of competition but at the end of the day, the emphatically prevailing sporting spirit and camaraderie emerged the ultimate winners. The DBMS Annual Sports Day concluded at 3:15 pm.
