Jamshedpur: Jharkhand government is going to table Medical Protection Bill in the state assembly to ensure safety of doctors at their workplace.
But before bringing this legislation, Chief Minister Raghubar Das should make sure that the doctors do not misuse this law. This was observed here on Saturday by Jaiprakash Bhai Patel, MLA of Mandu, on his visit to the city.
Speaking to scribes prior to his departure to Ranchi, Patel said he had apprehensions about a possible misuse of the proposed law by the medical fraternity. The way Section 353 of the IPC is misused in majority of cases, it is quite possible that the Medical Protection Act would be misused by doctors and medical institutions.
I sincerely appeal to the doctors to take their duties seriously and not initiate legal action on the basis of wrong information or misunderstanding.
Patel said the role of the state government would prove vital in properly implementing the proposed law. He said the doctors should also discharge their duty with sincerity and religiousness.
Patel said the Jharkhand Assembly committee had organized a meeting which was not attended by several department officials.
He said he had taken a serious note of the officials absence. He said the officials would be show-caused and required to give attendance before the committee.
