Media person Santosh Kumar attacked by goons in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: TV channel newsman Santosh Kumar was attacked by goons and antisocial elements yesterday afternoon near S�Type Chowk in Adityapur. The attackers tried to snatch Kumar�s mobile phone and purse. In the mean time, his colleague arrived and started recording video footage of the attackers. This led to the goons� behaving more violently with the media persons.

Santosh Kumar called up the Adityapur police station and other media persons. Santosh and his colleague putting up a brave front tried to subdue the attackers who started behaving very rudely with them. They also used abusive language. This continued till about 20 minutes at the centre of the road. When Santosh Kumar and his colleague started giving chase to them, the goons fled in different directions.

Immediately on receipt of information, other media persons arrived at the spot followed by the Adityapur police. But by then, the goons had fled the spot. The police are presently investigating the incident and looking out for the antisocial elements. However, the Adityapur police have claimed that based on the vehicle numbers, the culprits have been identified and would be arrested soon.

But a question mark hangs over the efficiency of the Adityapur police because such incidents have become the order of the day in Adityapur and the culprits are going scot-free. Although Santosh Kumar has filed a written complaint in the Adityapur PS no culprit has yet been arrested. Santosh Kumar has been shaken by the incident.
