Kalimati XI to take on Dimna XI in final today

Jamshedpur, Feb 20: Man of the match Nesar Ahmed’s yet another all-round performance supported by bowlers helped Kalimati XI continue their winning streak thereby entering the final of the Media Cup Cricket organised by Press Club of Jamshedpur on Sunday.

Kalimati XI beat Jubilee XI by 47 runs in the semi final match played at Gopal Maidan. Kalimati XI will take on Dimna XI in the final of the tournament on Monday.

Kalimati XI decided to bat first after winning the toss and scored 152 runs for five wickets in 20 overs on a slow pitch. For Kalimati XI, middle-order batsman Nesar Ahmed batted cautiously and scored 37 runs in 34 balls with the help of four fours. Captain Raghavendra added 28 runs in 32 balls. Ranjan’s contribution was important in increasing the run rate of Kalimati.

He scored an unbeaten 34 in just 24 balls with the help of four fours and a six and took the team to respectable total. Jubilee XI bowlers gave 35 extra runs. Chandan took two while Vivekananda and Anand took a wicket each.

In reply, Jubilee XI just managed to score 104 runs in 17.4 overs.

Kalimati bowlers did not allow Jubilee batsmen to play freely and took wickets in regular intervals.

Shekhar Suman gave hope to team Jubilee by scoring 39 runs off 41 balls with the help of four fours. But Zahid dashed the hopes of Jubilee XI by getting Shekhar Suman caught of Ranjan.

Chandan scored 11 runs while rest of the batsman could not even reach the double digit mark. Nesar Ahmed took two wickets for 15 runs in three overs and Zahid took three wickets for 19 runs. Prateek succeeded in taking the wickets of both the openers. Suman also took two wickets for 21 runs. Kalimati also conceded 21 extra runs. Nesar was declared man of the match for his all-round performance.
