Md Shamim of Jamshedpur bags top prize in International Tailoring Competition

Jamshedpur, August 10: Md Shamim Ansari, a 30-year-old from Mango, brought laurels not only to Jamshedpur but to the entire country by winning the Golden Award in the Golden Finger Competition organized by the World Federation of Master Tailors at Béla in Italy. On his arrival at Tata Nagar Railway Station by the Geetanjali Express, local youth welcomed him with garlands and bouquets.

 

Md Shamim, who works as a tailor master at Raymond Showroom on L Road in Bistupur, had participated in a selection competition held in Mumbai, where over two hundred tailoring masters from across the country had participated. Md. Shamim emerged victorious, clinching the first prize in that competition.

The global competition saw the participation of over 300 renowned tailors from 34 countries. Elated with his success, Md Shamim stated, “Tailoring is my passion and winning this international competition has provided me an opportunity to connect with professionals from different countries thus boosting my confidence in my craft.”

Md Shamim attributed his success to his elder brother, Md Moin Ansari who had himself won the Silver Award in the 2019 World Federation of Master Tailors competition. Md Shamim’s achievement has further cemented his family’s reputation in the world of tailoring.
