Jamshedpur: Following a historic win, Sudha Gupta, the first Mayor of Mango Municipal Corporation, took to the streets for an extensive “Aabhar Yatra.” This thanksgiving procession covered the length and breadth of Mango. Thousands of supporters joined the march to celebrate what they described as a “landslide victory.”
The massive procession kicked off from Dimna Chowk. Mayor Sudha Gupta traveled in an open jeep, surrounded by a large number of women supporters. She warmly acknowledged the residents who lined the streets to greet her.
Significantly, former minister Banna Gupta led the party workers in a separate vehicle. The rally served as a massive show of public support and a formal start to the new civic administration.
A Mayor for the People
During the rally, Sudha Gupta addressed the gathering with a focus on service rather than title. She emphasized that she would not function merely as a Mayor. Instead, she pledged to work as a “public servant” dedicated to the welfare of every resident.
“People have chosen development and those who stood with them. They have risen above divisions of caste, religion, and insider-outsider politics to bless us with this mandate.” — Mayor Sudha Gupta
She asserted that the election was fought and won by the public. Furthermore, both Sudha and Banna Gupta assured the crowd that public welfare remains their top priority.
Immediate Priorities: The Water Crisis
The new Mayor was quick to address the most pressing local concerns. With summer approaching, she pledged to tackle the drinking water crisis on a “war footing.”
Key points of her immediate action plan include:
- Water Scarcity: Ensuring that no household in Mango faces hardship during the peak summer months.
- Infrastructure: Focusing on long-term solutions for civic governance.
- Inclusivity: Maintaining a transparent administration that serves all citizens regardless of their background.
The procession concluded amid enthusiastic celebrations. Supporters believe this marks a “new chapter” in Mango’s civic governance and development.
