Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar Calls for “Renewed Resolve”

Ranchi: Jharkhand is approaching its 25th anniversary, marking a major milestone in the state’s history. Addressing the inaugural session of ‘DD Samvad’ organized by Doordarshan Jharkhand, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar described this Silver Jubilee as a vital moment for both celebration and introspection.

The event, themed “25 Years of Jharkhand: Achievements, Challenges and the Road Ahead,” focused on the state’s journey since its formation on November 15, 2000.

A Historic Foundation

Governor Gangwar recalled the state’s creation under the visionary leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Significantly, the state was formed on the birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda.

The Governor shared a personal connection to this history. He noted that he served in the Union Council of Ministers at the time. Furthermore, he highlighted that he voted in favor of Jharkhand’s creation as a Member of Parliament.

Jharkhand as “Ratnagarbha”

The Governor praised the state’s significant contributions to nation-building over the last quarter-century. He specifically identified Jharkhand as a “Ratnagarbha,” a land rich in natural resources and talented citizens.

While the state plays a crucial role in India’s economic growth, the Governor emphasized that more dynamism is required. He pointed to the following key areas for future growth:

  • Tourism: Highlighting the immense untapped potential of the region.
  • Natural Wealth: Leveraging resources for sustainable development.
  • Human Capital: Utilizing the industrious nature of the local population.

The Road Ahead: Challenges and Goals

Despite the progress made, the Governor called for an objective assessment of ongoing challenges. He stressed that focused efforts are needed in education, healthcare, security, and nutrition.

“Ensuring the benefits of Central and State government schemes reach every eligible beneficiary is a shared responsibility of both the administration and society.”Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar

A major focus of his speech was the youth. He urged policymakers to help young people become job creators rather than job seekers. To achieve this, he stated that skill development, entrepreneurship, and innovation must receive special attention.

Celebrating Sporting Excellence

The Governor also lauded Jharkhand’s achievements in sports. He noted that local players have brought international glory in several disciplines:

  • Hockey and Archery
  • Cricket and Athletics
  • Football

He concluded by stating that the Silver Jubilee serves as a reminder that the state’s ultimate goals are not yet fully realized. He called upon all stakeholders to work toward a developed, inclusive Jharkhand, contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
