Jamshedpur, Feb 12: Special prayers were offered at the Jogmaya Kali Mandir in Bhatia Basti on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. River water was brought to the temple and Goddess Kali was worshipped with offerings of 108 lamps, 108 golden apple (bael) leaves and flowers at night. Chief priest and Tantra Sadhak from Kamakhya and Tarapeeth, Pandit Ajesh Bhattacharjee alias Nitha Baba explained, “The month of Magh when the Amavasya (lunar dark phase) during Krishna Paksh (phase) occurs, it is known as Mauni Amavasya.” The Maha Prasad (consecrated food) was distributed among devotees at the temple. Among those present on the occasion were AB Bhattamishra, A Bhattamishra, Jayanto Dey, Kulwinder Singh Goldie, Rupesh Sharma, Madhu Mandal, S Das and others.
