Jamshedpur : The matriculation and intermediate started on Monday under tight security arrangements. No untoward incidents was reported from anywhere in the district on the first day.
The number of centres has been increased to provide students a better ambience to answer their examinations to reduce the risk of malpractices for students. The intermediate examinations too were peaceful on the first day.
Foolproof security arrangements have been made for exams. The district administration deputed static magistrates in each of the examination centres while there will be 18 zonal magistrates who would look into the smooth examinations.
There were five to six magistrates who would be patrolling the centres for surprise checking.
With throbbing heart beats and pulsating nerves students of the city participated in the examinations. Nervousness ruled the campus as students made last minutes revision and discussions with their classmates.
School authorities informed said that special arrangements have been made for the 10th and 12th examination. A flying squad has been constituted to keep a vigil look on the examination process.
�We have made elaborate arrangements for the exams and are happy to note that everything went off smoothly. Students were satisfied with the question papers too,� said a school teacher.
The East Singhbhum district education department is pinning hopes on better matriculation results �because of the academic initiatives taken throughout the year.
“We have tried our level best to help teachers and students. I hope the results would be better both for matriculation and intermediate. The rest can only be said after the examination is over and when the results are out,” said an official.
900 centres are marked for matriculation exam while intermediate examinations will be held at 438 centres. The Council has formed seven teams comprising 15 observers each who are assigned to inspect exam centres in their respective areas.
Notably, the strength of matriculation aspirants is comparatively low this year while that of intermediate is high. �Overall 4,54,833 students are appearing for matriculation.
3,08,766 students are appearing for intermediate examination. There had been around 28,000 student�s increase in intermediate students and slight decrease in matriculation,� said JAC Joint Secretary AK Jha.
Among the 24 districts, the least students in both matric and inter exams are appearing from Pakur. Ranchi holds the record of maximum aspirants.
Prior to the exam, students will be given extra 15 minutes for going through the questions. Matric exams are concluding on March 2 while the inter exams are concluding on March 10.
