Chatra: Suspected members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) killed two villagers at Pather village under Rajpur police station area. They slew the villagers after accusing them of being informers of police, sources said.
Police sources said the deceased villagers were identified as Sanjay Singh Bhokta, a resident of Pather village and Vijay Singh Ganjhu, a resident of Moktama village.
District police officials said that the villagers were shot dead by the Maoists after being reportedly taken out of their houses. The Maoists left pamphlets on the spot accusing the duo of being police informers, sources said.
The bodies of the slain villagers were lying at the crime scene which is located on the bordering areas of Bihar and Jharkhand till late afternoon.
Police officials said they were running a search for the Maoist squad members who had perpetrated the crime in a bid to spread terror among the villagers.
An FIR was lodged in this connection with the local police station against unidentified persons.
