Jamshedpur: In a concerning development, CPI Maoists have reportedly hoisted banners and posters along the Sonua-Lonjo main road and Banskata under the Sonua police station area of West Singhbhum district. This incident unfolded late on Sunday night, leaving villagers apprehensive and sparking widespread discussions in the entire region.
The banners and posters, strategically placed at various locations, carry messages related to the 23rd anniversary of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), slated for celebration from 2 to 8 December. The Naxalites have explicitly stated their agenda, emphasizing recruitment drives, support base expansion, and the fortification of the PLGA and Revolutionary People’s Committee.
One of the banners issued a direct warning, stating that as long as the CRPF FOB camp remains in the Kolhan forest area, the Maoists will continue to pose a threat. The call to intensify the movement against public resistance and the alleged unjust war imposed on the tribal people of Kolhan by paramilitary and police forces is also highlighted.
The incident has caused a stir in the region, with local residents expressing fear and concern about the implications of the Maoist activities. The posters and banners were promptly confiscated by the Sonua police station upon receiving information about their presence. Law enforcement reached the spot, removed the propaganda materials, and launched an investigation into the incident.
In a related development, Naxalites had planted an 8 kg improvised explosive device (IED) with the intention to harm soldiers in the Chaibasa area. Fortunately, the soldiers successfully recovered and neutralized the explosive device, preventing any potential harm.
The recent activities of Naxalites in West Singhbhum underscore the persistent challenges posed by insurgent groups in certain regions. The security forces are on high alert, actively working to counteract these threats and maintain peace in the affected areas. The local administration has assured residents that necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and security of the community amid heightened tensions.
“ Security measures have been significantly heightened to ensure the safety and well-being of the local population. The increased presence of Maoists, evidenced by the hoisting of banners and posters in various areas, has prompted authorities to take proactive measures to counter potential threats,” said a police official.
Security forces are on high alert, conducting thorough patrols and surveillance operations to monitor any suspicious activities. Checkpoints have been reinforced, and intelligence-gathering efforts have been intensified to stay one step ahead of potential threats posed by insurgent groups.
Authorities are working closely with local communities to enhance cooperation and gather valuable information that may aid in preventing and mitigating any untoward incidents. Special attention is being given to vulnerable areas, and community awareness programs are being organized to educate residents about the ongoing security measures and the importance of vigilance.
