Jamshedpur: Tata Steel�s Corporate Safety Department organized Manthan, a two day event for contract workers and supervisors, concluded today at Steelenium Hall. The theme of the event was �Value for life�.
The objective behind the event was to understand the causes behind the fatalities and reducing the fatality rate, thus adding value to an individual�s life. The event also aims at understanding various work related risks and hazards from the perspective of the contract workers as well as supervisors.
Many suggestions poured in, relating to the theme �Value for Life� by the contract workers and supervisors. Some of the suggestions were employees fitness, availability of standard operating procedures (SOP) in Hindi, behavioural safety etc. The winning team was awarded by V N Gaikwad, Chief, Safety and Ergonomics, Tata Steel.
Gaikwad while addressing the audience stressed on the fact that the shop floor workers should be sensitized on Safety. He also gave some suggestions to improve Safety such as identification of potential hazards, work permit procedures, proper implementation of revised version of SOPs and Safety Standards.
