Jamshedpur: World Blood Donor Day was celebrated with a blood donation camp under the joint aegis of NSS Unit and Outreach Department of Manipal Tata Medical College.
The Blood Donation Camp at MTMC was open to all the students, faculties, staff, the teaching and non-teaching, security, and transport personnel and the local community. The event adhered to all necessary health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of donors and organisers. A total of 100 volunteered to donate blood and became a part of the Noble cause.
The event was inaugurated by lamp lighting by Dr Harish Chander Bandhu , (associate dean), Dr Sachin Kumar Patil (NSS Programme Officer) and Dr Maheshwar Prasad (Head Outreach Programme) and NSS student volunteers. Dr Vijay Kautilya D, Dr Vinay A V, Kshitij Mohan, Debasis Sinha, Prasad G, Sanjay Tewari and Priyanka Singhal were present to make this event a grand success.
World Blood Donor Day, observed globally on June 14th, serves as a reminder of the critical role that blood banks and voluntary blood donors play in healthcare systems worldwide. In alignment with this significant day, MTMC, renowned for its commitment to medical education and community welfare, has commemorated the NSS unit to organise this noble initiative.
The National Service Scheme, known for its active involvement in community service activities, has been instrumental in coordinating this event. NSS volunteers will assist with the registration process, donor screening, and post-donation care, ensuring a smooth and efficient blood donation experience for all participants.
