Jamshedpur, May 26: In a continued effort to foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace environment, the Outreach Department of Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) organized a comprehensive POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Training Program on May 26. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 300 teaching and non-teaching staff members.
The training aimed to sensitize employees about the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and equip them with knowledge on institutional mechanisms for addressing such issues effectively.

The program featured Barnali Chakravarti, an expert from Yuva Shakti Foundation, as the keynote speaker and resource person. Through an interactive session, she highlighted the legal provisions, real-life case studies, and the importance of creating a gender-sensitive workplace culture. The training also covered the roles and responsibilities of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and procedures for redressal.
Another key speaker at the event was Padma Kumari from Padma Shakti Foundation, who brought valuable insights from her extensive experience in gender advocacy and community-based interventions. She emphasized the role of awareness, empathy, and institutional accountability in preventing workplace harassment. Her session highlighted practical strategies for creating a culture of respect, encouraging bystander intervention, and empowering individuals to recognize and challenge inappropriate behavior.
Such training programs play a very important role in building a safe and supportive institutional environment. It was also highlighted that POSH training is not just a statutory requirement – it is a step toward empowering the workforce with awareness and confidence to speak up and act responsibly.
Manipal Tata Medical College remains committed to upholding dignity and equity at the workplace, and initiatives like these reflect its dedication to promoting ethical conduct and well-being among all staff.
