Jamshedpur, April 9: In a move to promote menstrual hygiene and sustainability, the Outreach Department of Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), Jamshedpur, under its CSR initiative through the Manipal Foundation, distributed biodegradable sanitary napkins to five government schools in East Singhbhum district on April 8 and 9, 2025.

The initiative aims to empower adolescent girls with access to safe, eco-friendly menstrual products and educate them on proper usage and environmentally responsible disposal methods. Over the two-day program, experts from the Manipal Foundation conducted interactive training sessions, including demonstrations on the correct use of sanitary pads and awareness talks on menstrual health and hygiene.

By encouraging the use of biodegradable sanitary napkins, the program addresses both adolescent health needs and environmental concerns, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative also seeks to break taboos around menstruation and promote dignity, awareness, and responsibility among schoolgirls.

This program reflects MTMC’s continued commitment to community welfare, public health education, and sustainable healthcare practices. It also marks a significant step in supporting young girls’ health and well-being while contributing to a cleaner and more informed society.
