Jamshedpur: Members of Mango Welfare Mission put up a demonstration before the Jamshedpur Collectorate on Monday to demand a government high school in Mango. Led by Rajesh Srivastava and Dr Afroz Shakeel, the agitators alleged that there was not a single government high school in Mango which has a dense population.
In the memorandum handed over to the Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar, the outfit members said there are more than 2.5 lakh people in Mango. Notwithstanding such a high population, there is no high school in the area which is run by the government. As a consequence, the under-privileged families are unable to send their kids to high school, said the members.
The agitators said there are eight middle schools in Mango. They said the Mahatma Gandhi Middle School at Gandhi Maidan, Mango, was fit to be upgraded into a high school. There are around 600 children enrolled here. Most of the students belong to BPL and lower middle class families, said the agitators.
Among those present during the demonstration included Irshad, Aleem, Osama, Naushad, Raju, Zaid, Mohammad Zafar, Shahid Akhtar and Professor Iqbal.
