Jamshedpur: Political equations in the Mango Municipal Corporation elections are shifting rapidly, with visible differences emerging within parties and social organisations over support to candidates. Conflicting announcements by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and a split within the Rashtriya Kayastha Vichar Manch have added fresh twists to the electoral battle.
RJD Backs Congress-Supported Candidate
Amid rising political activity in Mango, the Jamshedpur metropolitan unit of the RJD on Sunday officially declared support for Congress-backed mayoral candidate Sudha Gupta. RJD Metropolitan President Ramesh Rai, State Vice President Manju Shah, and Youth District President Kamlesh Yadav jointly announced that the party would stand firmly behind the alliance candidate.
The development comes days after RJD District President Shambhu Chaudhary had publicly declared support for expelled Congress leader Jeba Khan, triggering confusion among party workers. Clarifying the party’s stand, leaders stated that under directions from the state leadership, all RJD workers would now work wholeheartedly to ensure the victory of the alliance-backed candidate.
Addressing a press conference in Mango, Ramesh Rai said that during Banna Gupta’s tenure, Jamshedpur witnessed significant development. The event was attended by Congress District President Parminder Singh, RJD Intellectual Cell President Sintu Pandey, Principal General Secretary Vijay Thakur, and senior leader Indradev Prajapati.
Kayastha Vichar Manch Split Widens
Meanwhile, the Mango civic polls have also exposed divisions within the Rashtriya Kayastha Vichar Manch. After National Convenor Divakar Sinha announced unilateral support for mayoral candidate Kumkum Srivastava, several local office-bearers protested the decision and submitted their collective resignations on Sunday.
Those who resigned include City President Animesh Sinha, General Secretary Rakesh Prasad, and Spokesperson Rajdeep Dutta. The leaders stated that the Kayastha community would not accept any undemocratic or imposed political decision. They termed the national leadership’s announcement as arbitrary and against the sentiments of the community.
The resigning members subsequently declared their support for BJP-backed mayoral candidate Sandhya Singh. District office-bearer Nishi Nath Sinha also endorsed the move, asserting that the community would move forward unitedly while upholding democratic values and self-respect.
The latest political developments have intensified caste and alliance dynamics in the Mango Municipal Corporation elections, making the contest increasingly complex and closely watched.
