Jamshedpur : A domestic squabble ended in an irate man allegedly murdering his wife in the wee hours of Tuesday at Pokhari village under MGM police station area, about 10 Kms away from the steel city. The 40-year-old man hacked his wife to death with a chopper at his house.
The assailant identified as Budheswar Gope claimed that he sacrificed his wife by beheading her as she wanted salvation. The victim was identified as Asha Devi, a mother of two children.
One of the villagers informed the MGM police station, leading a police party to rush to the Pokhari village and arrested the assailant. The police have also recovered the chopper which the assailant had used in the murder.
When contacted officer-in-charge, MGM police station, Ratibhan Singh said that as per their initial probe there was a quarrel couple over serving of food, and the killing of the woman was linked to that quarrel only. The reason behind the murder seems to be domestic quarrel only he added.
Gope said that he killed his wife as she used to quarrel with him regularly and would not serve him food properly.
The police arrested the accused under Section 302 of IPC and later forwarded him to judicial custody.
