Kolkata, Nov 13 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday thanked President Pranab Mukherjee for agreeing to meet her and other political leaders to talk about people’s suffering due to the demonetisation.
“The President was kind enough to take my call now. I briefed him about how common people are suffering because of demonetization,” Banerjee said.
The Trinamool Congress supremo has been opposing the Centre’s decision to spike Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.
Banerjee and other political representatives who oppose the step are scheduled to meet the President later this week to talk about the “grim situation” throughout the nation since the demonetisation of November 8.
