Jamshedpur, September 22: The district is organising several campaigns to make the people aware about the ill effects of polythene use.
On Thursday, East Singhbhum district education officer (DEO) Rajkumar Prasad in a meeting with all the Block Education Officers ordered to make the students pledge for environment conservation and to minimize the use of polythene in their daily life.
DEO asked the officers to conduct awareness programmes in schools under their respective areas on September 27 and sensitize the students so that environment can be kept clean and green.
He further said that the two-minute pledge taking programme should be organised during the morning assembly and teachers should inform the students about the hazards of polythene on the environment.
At the meeting deputy district superintendent of education Rajendra Prasad Singh, Block education officers of Jamshedpur -1 and Jamshedpur-2 Praveen Kumar Sinha and Kamlesh Kumar along with education officers of all the blocks of the district were present.
