Major Jharkhand cities to get inter-air connectivity: Jayant Sinha

Ranchi: Union Minister of State for Aviation Jayant Sinha on Thursday said that the Union government was planning to increase air-connectivity between major cities of Jharkhand.

He said the government also wanted to strengthen the air connectivity of the capital city of Ranchi to other parts of India and the world through more flights per day.

The MoS, who addressed Momentum Jharkhand Global Investors� Summit in Ranchi, said the number of daily flights from Ranchi�s Birsa Munda Airport has already gone up from eight to 10 flights a day to 18 flights at present.

Sinha added that the government aims to build up on the cargo side as well and recently built up a cargo depot in Ranchi.

When asked on airlines raising issues of facing challenges due to pricing on these regional routes due to high aviation fuel costs, the minister said that the government is aware of the issues and discussions are underway to resolve them.
