Ranchi: Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni finds himself entangled in a defamation case filed by his two ex-business partners, Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das, in the Delhi High Court. The petition alleges that Dhoni, along with individuals acting as his representatives, has leveled unfounded accusations that have severely tarnished the plaintiffs’ image, widely covered by the media.
Mihir Diwakar, a former Ranji player and member of India’s Under-19 team in 2000, has a history of playing alongside Dhoni. Mihir and Soumya, who are married, jointly operate a company named Arka Sports Management. The legal dispute stems from an agreement between their company and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to establish a cricket academy on a global scale.
The controversy escalated when Dhoni, through his friend and representative Seemant Lohani, initiated legal action in the Ranchi court. The cricketer accused Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das, directors of Arka Sports Management, of violating the terms of their agreement and perpetrating a fraud amounting to Rs 15 crore.
In response to these allegations, Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Das have taken legal recourse, opting to file a defamation case against Dhoni in the Delhi High Court.
