Kharsawan, April 9: Vedic chants and prayer rituals marked Maha Ashtami Puja at the Sri-Sri 108 Basanti Durga Mandir in Kharsawan on Saturday. A large number of devotees offered prayers to Ma Basanti Durga Devi on Mahashtami on Saturday. Hawan and Pushpanjali were organized at the temple. The prayer rituals were highlighted with the recitation from the Chandi Path. The puja is being performed at Sri-Sri 108 Basanti Durga Mandir in Kharsawan through 119 years. As per tradition worship of the Goddess commenced with Balyadhivas on Thursday. Maha Navami prayers will be performed on Sunday, April 10 followed by Bijoya dashami on Monday, April 11 when the idol of the Goddess will be immersed late in the evening. The sacred thread ceremony (Upanayan) will be performed for 35 Brahmin boys at the temple
