Jamshedpur: The Annual General Board Meeting of the Masters Athletics Federation of India (MAFI) was held on Tuesday in Bengaluru, marking an important step in the growth of Masters Athletics in the country. The meeting reviewed recent achievements and outlined plans for upcoming national and international events.

A special felicitation ceremony was organised during the meeting to honour officials who played key roles in the successful conduct of the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championships 2025, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, in November. Among those honoured were SK Tomar, General Secretary of the Masters Athletic Association of Jharkhand and an international athlete from Jamshedpur, and Vijay Singh, Vice President of MAFI, also from Jamshedpur. Both were recognised for their dedicated service and significant contributions to the championship.
During the meeting, MAFI also announced that the five-day National Masters Athletics Championships will be held from January 28 to February 1, 2026, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The event will serve as a crucial platform for selecting potential athletes for the Indian team for the World Masters Athletics Championships scheduled to be held in Korea in August 2026.
