Jamshedpur, Feb. 28: Madrasi Sammelani organized a Violin recital by Lalgudi G J R Krishnan, famous violin artist from Chennai, at its premises on Tuesday evening.
Son of eminent Violin artist from South India, Lalgudi R Jayaraman, Lalgudi G. J. R. Krishnan debuted in 1973 and became popular. He travels extensively on musical tours all over the world. His style like his father’s is the gayaka style closest to vocal rendition.
Lalgudi G J R Krishnan has performed in the Violin Trio and Duel format almost in all prestigious venues in India. He has widely travelled the globe in all facets as a musician rendering concerts and captivating audiences across the globe and representing the country in many prestigious International events.
He has performed in Lincoln center, New York, Krishnan conducted a symphony “Sunada Pravaham” in the Singapore Arts Festival. He has also performed in Tropical Institute of Amsterdam, Concertgebouw-Amsterdam in the Indo Amsterdam Festival, Smithsonian Institution-Washington, USA, India festival at USSR, Purcell Room, London to name a few.
Lalgudi G J R Krishnan is the recipient of many awards including Jaycees Award in 1981, – Best Violinist Award from the Music Academy, Chennai in 1986, “Sangeet Natak Academi” Award in 2015, Rotary Award for Vocational Excellence from Rotary Club of Nangallur in 1997 and several others.
On Tuesday, he is accompanied by Mr Arvind on Mrudangam and Raj Ganesh on Janzeera.
Earlier, N Ramamoorthy, welcomed the artists and the distinguished guests to the programme and he also introduced the performing artists.
