Madrasa Teacher Found Dead in Dumka Hotel; Woman Detained

Dumka: Tension gripped Jharkhand’s sub-capital on Thursday after a madrasa teacher died under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room near Dudhani Tower Chowk. Police have identified the deceased as Mohammad Sadiq Hussain Ansari, a resident of Godda district who taught at a local madrasa.

Details of the Incident

According to the Nagar police, Ansari checked into the hotel with a woman on Wednesday. The situation came to light Thursday morning when hotel staff discovered Ansari unresponsive in the room. Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The woman present in the room is currently in police custody. In her statement, she claimed that Ansari’s health deteriorated suddenly after a meal. She told investigators that he appeared to be in discomfort before becoming motionless; she initially assumed he had fallen asleep and only alerted staff when he failed to wake up.

The Investigation

Police are currently processing the scene and have outlined the following steps:

  • Post-Mortem Examination: Authorities have sent the body to Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital to determine the exact cause of death.

  • Forensic Evidence: Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel to track the duo’s movements.

  • Relationship Probe: Preliminary inquiries suggest the two were in a personal relationship, and police are now verifying the woman’s reason for visiting Dumka.

The Officer-in-Charge stated that while they are considering natural causes, they are not ruling out foul play. The deceased’s family in Godda has been notified as the investigation continues.
