Madhavi Mishra takes over as Dhalbhum SDO

Jamshedpur, Oct. 5 : Madhavi Mishra took charge from Prabhat Kumar as SDO, Dhalbhum at his office this morning. “I am happy to take over the post and I promise to keep the steel city, especially the marketplaces of prime localities like Sakchi, Bistupur and Golmuri free from encroachment,” she said.

She said that she has taken from his predecessor the necessary guidance as to how to conduct anti-encroachment drives at Sakchi and Bistupur markets where the footpath vendors and shop-keepers tend to encroach on the market land.

She went on to add that commuters traveling through one of the main commercial hubs of the city Sakchi bazaar, which has been cleared of encroachment, can look forward for hassle free journey. The move assumes significance as illegal parking along with encroachment was the main bottleneck for smooth commuting in the biggest market.

The SDO said similar problems at Bistupur market exist. She said her predecessor has left the job of removing unauthorised shops at Bistupur market incomplete due to some legal hurdle and he would carry on the incomplete work of removing unauthorised shops from Bistupur market once he finds the desk clear.

Incidentally, Sakchi market was cleared of encroachment after several days of efforts on the part of district administration in August while Bistupur market was cleared in September. With city roads squeezing day by day due to encroachments, the district administration launched launch anti-encroachment drive.

We want to streamline the traffic movement in the city. We will take initiatives to vacate the illegal constructions so that the vehicles can move easily, said the officer. He said he would do everything to ensure that the steel city remains a beautiful place to live in.
