Jamshedpur : Ayush Banerjee, a student of Loyola School, topped India with a whooping 99.25 per cent marks in the class 12th ISC (Pure Science) examination conducted by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi.
His small house at Paridh Road in Kadma was abuzz with activities as the results got declared this afternoon. The cellphones kept ringing as he accepted the wishes from his close ones.
�As I was about to return from my IIT coaching centre I got a call from my school principal that I have topped my country in ISC. I could not believe my ears. I was confident of good performance but never in my wildest dream had I ever thought that I would top my country,� said Ayush with a twinkle in his eyes.
A science freak, Ayush this year also scored 219 All India rank in IIT-JEE Mains exam and is confident to pursue engineering from Indian Institute of Technology.
Sharing his aim in life he said: �Regardless of which ever field I take up as a career my motto would be to ensure development of India with the small contributing of mine. I am looking forward to make a career in the field of research,” he stated.
�I used to study for 2-3 hours daily and revised my course regularly. I was expecting good marks but this is definitely beyond my expectations,� Ayush further added. He finds Chemistry very amusing. He went on to add that his aim to is make India self-sufficient in the field of research technology.
Son of P K Bannerjee, who is chief researcher at Tata Steel, Ayush thanks his father for the continuous support. �I think hard work is the only mantra of success. Through out my schooling I have worked hard with sincerity, this is the only reason of my success. It is not only about scoring high marks but I am happy that I have made my parents proud,� said the topper. He said that his father did chemical engineering from IIT Kharagpur and he too wants to join the prestigious institution.
Not only in academics but Ayush takes equal interests in sports and have been avid basketball player.
Meanwhile, speaking to The Pioneer, Loyola School principal Father Sebastian Puthenpura, said it�s a proud moment not only for the city but for the entire Jharkhand.
“He was good in studies from the day one but we never thought he would the country. We are really happy for his splendid performance. We have decided to felicitate him once the school gets reopened after summer vacation,� said the principal.
