Loyola School wins stage–II of Frank Anthony Debate

Jamshedpur, August 19: Kerala Samajam Model School hosted the category 1 (Classes 11 and 12): Stage 2 (Selection Round) of Frank Anthony Debate on Tuesday wherein 16 participants from 8 schools (4 local, 2 from Orrisa, 2 from Kolkata) participated. Topic for the debate was ‘The Purpose of Society has lost its Significance’.

After rounds of intense battle team from Loyola School consisting of Ritwik Mehta and Muskan Mascharak were declared the winners. Best Speaker of the contest was Joybeer Datta Gupta of La Martinere for Boys, Kolkata. 1st Runner-up Speaker was Rirtwik Mehta of Loyola School while 2nd Runner-up Speaker was Shreya Mukherjee of Rajendra Vidyalaya.

The Moderator of the debate was Ms. Lalita Sareen Director of Mount Litera Zee School and an educationist of repute.

Judges for the event were Ms. Malathi Pande MD of Steel City Press Ltd, Nandita Sinha Director of Make Your Career (MYC) and Dr. Shrikant Nair Faculty at Awadh Dental College. The Best team was awarded a Silver Salver and the best three speakers were awarded medals.

Eight participating schools included Loyola School, Rajendra Vidyalaya, Sacred Heart Convent School, Narbheram Hansraj English School, The Frank Anthony Public School, Kolkata, La Martiniere School for Boys, Kolkata, Belpahar English Medium School and Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Rourkela.

The Frank Anthony Debate organized by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CICSE) is among the most prestigious debate in India.

Approximately 1600 schools across India take part in the preliminary rounds (Stage 1) and zonal qualification (Stage –II) to reach one of the seven places in the National Final rounds (Stage-III).
