Jamshedpur : The Environment Club of D. B. M. S. English School organised the �Bishwadeep Sarkar Memorial Environment Quiz – 2013� on Saturday at school auditorium. This is an annual event organised by the Eco-Club of D. B. M. S. English School in memory of their student Bishwadeep Sarkar. The quiz aims to develop an awareness for conserving and preserving our environment so that we may leave behind a better legacy for the future generations.
A total of 12 reputed schools of Jamshedpur of Std. VIII to X had participated in the quiz. Five best teams ( each team consisting of 2 students ) qualified for the stage rounds K.S.M.S, Hill Top, Church School, Loyola School and Rajendra Vidyalaya. Since the quiz was organised by the Eco Club members of the D. B. M. S. English School, the host school did not participate in the quiz.
The quiz comprised of six rounds based on Environment facts, Videos, Pictures and Visual rounds and it was well organised by the Club Members. At the end of each round the audience was also asked questions. The participating teams showed their intellect and knowledge and eventually battled out for the winning position.
Loyola School secured the first position with 138 points led by Akshit Akhoury and Tanuj Guha, Rajendra Vidyalaya secured the 2nd Position participants were Sanidhya Kumar and Sanket Mandal Hill Top School secured the 3rd Position with 61 points. The welcome speech was given by M. Abhishek, the President of the Eco Club and vote of thanks was presented by Rajani Shekhar, Principal, D. B. M. S. English School.
In her speech she congratulated all the members, Co-ordinator and Moderators involved in the task for the smooth conduct of the quiz. The rounds of the quiz were conducted by S. Girish, M. Abhishek, Manish Raju and Shubham Shandilya, Members of the Members of the Environment Club. and Sunil Sarkar gave the Trophy and
Certificates to the winning team. P. K. Sahu (Vice- Principal), Renu Arora (Activity Co-ordinator), Brinda Venkataraman (High School Co-ordinator) Eco Club Moderators – Gurpreet Kaur and Sukhveet Gabri and other Teachers all witnessed the programme. Lalitha Chandrashekhar, (Jt. Chairperson), B. Chandrashekhar (Jt. Chairperson), Hema Raghavan (Secretary), Lakshmi Varadharajan (Treasurer) all expressed their best wishes for the smooth conduct of the quiz.
