Jamshedpur, July 30: Loyola School, Telco, commemorated the Feast Day of its founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola, with a vibrant celebration on July 30. The event served as a heartfelt tribute to the visionary saint who founded the Society of Jesus and whose teachings continue to inspire millions across the globe.
The celebration began with the garlanding of St. Ignatius’ statue by Principal Charanjeet Ohson, accompanied by Jesuit Fathers Fr. Michael T. Raj, Fr. Gerry D’Souza, Fr. Pius, and Fr. Gautam. This was followed by the ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing enlightenment and divine presence.
A prayer song and an expressive prayer dance set a spiritual tone, reminding everyone that prayer could be beautifully conveyed through music and movement.
The highlight of the event was a skit portraying the life of St. Ignatius—from a wounded soldier to a man of profound spiritual insight. The powerful performance conveyed themes of faith, resilience, and personal transformation. The school choir further uplifted the atmosphere with a rousing rendition of “Noble Knights,” celebrating Ignatian values such as service, courage, and dedication.
Vice Superior Fr. Michael T. Raj addressed the gathering with an insightful reflection on the enduring relevance of St. Ignatius’ teachings. He emphasized discernment, empathy, and inner freedom, urging students to become thoughtful individuals driven by both reflection and action.
A multimedia presentation highlighted Jesuit contributions to education, social justice, and humanitarian work around the world. A lively band performance and an energetic fusion dance by Primary students added rhythm and color to the morning.
Principal Charanjeet Ohson, in her concluding remarks, expressed deep appreciation for everyone involved in making the day special. She encouraged students to live by the Ignatian principle of ‘Magis’—to strive for excellence and selfless service in all they do.
The celebration concluded with the Loyola School Anthem, sung with pride by the entire school community. The success of the program was made possible by the dedicated efforts of coordinators Teachers Reshma Rodrigues and Zeenat Maria, with the support of teachers Anna, Sofia, Elizabeth, Richa, Dipti, Deepika, Saurabh, Kanchan, Rohit, Swati, Amandeep, Abhisarika, Maushmi, Meenu, Kishor, Ranjita Minz, and Mariam.
