Teaching kids the values of giving and sharing: Maya’s inspiring act

Jamshedpur, June 2: In today’s world, where material possessions and personal achievements often take centre stage, teaching children the importance of giving and sharing is more crucial than ever. Instilling these values in kids can have a profound impact on their development, helping them become empathetic, compassionate, and socially responsible individuals.

A heartwarming example of this is Maya, a 10-year-old student from Loyola School, Jamshedpur. In April 2025, Maya made a selfless decision to donate her hair to cancer patients. This small yet significant gesture not only demonstrated Maya’s kindness but also highlighted the value of sharing something that held greater value to someone else than it did to us.

By donating her hair, Maya gave cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy the opportunity to feel more confident and empowered during a challenging time. This act of kindness not only benefited the recipients but also taught Maya a valuable lesson about the impact of her actions on others.
