Loyola School Jamshedpur gears up for platinum jubilee fete

School to host India Quiz, Cyclothon, Shilpa Rao to perform

Jamshedpur, July 23: Established in the year 1947, Loyola School is gearing up to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee Year.

Loyola School in association with Loyola Alumni Association (LAA) will host series of events to mark institution’s 75 years.

Though the celebration could not take place last year due to the pandemic, they have chalked out plans to make the platinum jubilee celebration memorable this year in every sense.

LAA has decided to make this milestone a gala affair with participation of students and alumni who are spread out all throughout the world.

Celebrations were officially launched in Audio Visual Room of Loyola School on Saturday, July 23.

From ‘The India Quiz’, to cyclothon to musical shows to the performance of Bollywood singer Loyola alumnus Shilpa Rao, Sporting activities and last but not the least the grand finale at the end of the year with participation of about of 1500 former students of the school to mark the milestone.

“Loyola School has completed 75 years of service to the nation and the world and with India also celebrating 75 years of Independence the occasion becomes more momentous,” said Principal, Fr Pius Fernandes.

Addressing a press meet in the school on Saturday, Fr Pius informed that the school has been running free health clinic for the last 35 years in the campus and we have now added a dental clinic which will benefit the society at large.

Later, the dental clinic was inaugurated by Fr Pius Fernandes.

Father Pius Fernandes, principal, Loyola School, who was also at the helm of the school during Golden Jubilee celebration in 1997, said that he is excited to see the students back to the campus.

Platinum Jubilee Organizing Committee Chairman Rajiv Talwar said that the celebrations will commence with ‘The India Quiz’ where popular Quiz Master, Barry O’Brien will conduct the proceedings in his own inimitable style on August 13 with participation of about 150 students from 36 city schools.

Organizing Committee Secretary Savak Patel informed that LAA will be organising Cyclothon on August 14 for which 500 students of the school have already registered.

Rajiv Talwar further informed that famous Bollywood playback singer Shilpa Rao who is also a Loyola School alumnus will perform at Loyola School on September 22 while sporting events will be held in October-November. “The gala event of platinum jubilee is scheduled on December 16, 17 and 18. The three-day event will witness musical shows by the students of the school. The alumni association is working in tune with the school to give fine-tune to the events. Around 1500 alumni members of the school from across the globe are expected to participate in it.”

Udit Agarwal of Loyola Alumni Association stated that social media campaign hashtag #Loyola75 has been launched as part of the celebration.

Dental Clinic inaugurated in Loyola School

Jamshedpur, July 23: Free dental clinic was inaugurated in Loyola School campus as part of the institution’s Platinum Jubilee Year celebrations, on Saturday, July 23.

Loyola Alumni Association (LAA) which has been running free health clinic in the school for the last 35 years started this new initiative. Dental Clinic was inaugurated by LAA President cum School Principal Fr Pius Fernandes in presence of LAA Vice President cum Platinum Jubilee Organising committee Chairman Rajiv Talwar, Secretary Savak Patel, Patrons Dr Dinesh Upadhyay, Rony D’Costa, Dr KP Dubey, Treasurer Iqbal Alam, senior alumni members, alumni doctors and Loyoleans.

Free dental clinic will serve the needy every Saturday where dentist will treat the patients.
