
Students of Std 6 to 9 of Loyola School had the privilege of experiencing a Bagless Day on Saturday, 14th September 2024. A host of activities were played out on this exciting and meaningful day.

Class 6: Interfaith Exploration:
Std 6 students were sensitized towards religions other than their own through visits to places of worship including mosques, churches, temples and gurudwaras. An in-depth understanding of religious diversity will go a long way in establishing world peace.

Std 7: Rural Craftsmanship:
Std 7 students participated in a craft and creativity enhancement session with rural craftsmen from Purulia. This initiative was focused on promoting the traditional arts of Jharkhand. Through this workshop, students learnt sohrai and patkar painting on terracotta pots, and learnt to make papier mache and grass mats. These sessions not only fostered creativity but also instilled a sense of respect and appreciation for rural artisans, emphasizing the importance of preserving one’s cultural heritage.

Std 8 and 9: Wellness and Transformation:
Adolescence is typically marked by physical, emotional and psychological changes. Teenagers struggle with all kinds of sensitive issues which need to be understood. The Students of Std 8 and 9 engaged in a wellness session led by Dr. Manju Dubey, a renowned gynaecologist. The session addressed the physiological, psychological and emotional changes associated with adolescence, providing valuable insights into coping strategies and self-care. Dr.Kailash Dubey, an alumnus, spoke on how to channelize energies at this significant juncture of life.
Std 9: Geological Excursion:
Students of Std 9 visited the P.N.Bose Geological Centre, one of its kind, that documents the history of mining, and offers a unique opportunity to explore the intricate, dynamic processes that formed rocks, minerals and fossils.
Overall, the Bagless Day activities at Loyola School were a success in promoting cultural understanding, creativity, and personal development. The diverse experiences offered to students not only enriched their educational journey but also reinforced the school’s commitment to fostering a well-rounded, inclusive, and socially conscious student body.
