Jamshedpur: Loyola School held a heartfelt Special Assembly to mark a significant leadership transition, bidding an emotional farewell to outgoing Rector Fr. K.M. Joseph and extending a warm welcome to the new Rector, Fr. Mike Thanaraj.

The gathering began with a solemn tribute to the late Shibu Soren, veteran politician, revered tribal leader, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, and founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Remembering his enduring contributions, the assembly reflected on his legacy of integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment to justice, particularly in uplifting Jharkhand’s tribal communities.

Setting a tone of gratitude and inspiration, the proceedings embraced the message: “The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind, but the goodness of a person spreads in all directions.” The event was attended by Principal Fr. Vinod Fernandes, former Principal Fr. Victor Misquith, Fr. Cyril Tigga, Vice Principals Jayanthi Sheshadri and Vineeta Ekka, along with faculty members, students, and staff.

As a gesture of appreciation and continuity, Fr. Mike Thanaraj presented a sapling to Fr. Joseph, symbolising growth and the enduring spirit of Loyola. Student Nishtha Deo delivered a moving speech, recalling moments of guidance and mentorship under Fr. Joseph, while a soulful musical performance by students added to the emotional farewell.

Student Anurag Arbind formally introduced Fr. Mike Thanaraj, extending a warm welcome on behalf of the Loyola family. The programme concluded with the School Anthem, reaffirming the institution’s unity and optimism for the future.
