Jamshedpur, May 3: These are tough times. There is a deadly pandemic. Everyone is under lockdown. Schools are closed. Life has come to a standstill. But the students of Loyola School have shown the world that they are made of �sterner stuff�.
With the school turning virtual till the lockdown, Loyoleans came together to keep the May Day tradition going.
On morning of May 1 the students had a virtual assembly to respect and honour the workers of their school. The students conducted the assembly on Zoom app. At 7.00 am in the morning they were ready in full school uniform. They recited poems, shayaris, they spoke from their heart, thanked and appreciated the domestic help without whom they have been trying to survive for the past few days, they shared drawings, sketches, posters, collages, they even sang a song!
Loyola has always had a tradition of making May Day an extra special day and sensitizing the students to the plight of their less fortunate brethren. Children try their hand at all the work like sweeping, swobbing etc in order to gain a first hand experience of what it feels like to be an ordinary worker.
In having this assembly Loyoleans have shown the world that where there is a will there is a way. Lockdown could not stop them from showing their regard to the Bhaiyyas and Didis. The teachers were the silent workers behind this entire effort. They motivated the children to try out new ways to share their sentiments with others online.
