Jamshedpur: Loans worth Rs 27.55 lakh were provided to 91 Scheduled caste beneficiaries of Kolhan by Jharkhand State Scheduled Caste Cooperative Development Corporation Limited on Friday. A Scheduled Tribe beneficiary was also given loan on the occasion through Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation, Chaibasa.
The loans were given at a function held at the Jamshedpur Collectorate auditorium. The chief guest of the event was the state food supplies minister Saryu Roy while the special guest was Ghatsila MLA Laxman Tudu.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Roy said utilizing the loan amounts was essential for its success. In the absence of proper planning and wisdom, the loans may not be beneficial at all, he said.
Other dignitaries present during the programme included Adivasi Welfare Commissioner of the Government of Jharkhand Gauri Shankar Minj, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar, DDC Biswanath Maheshwari, Zila Parishad president Bulurani Singh and vice president Rajkumar Singh. A sum of Rs 27.55 lakh was given in loans.
The Ghatsila MLA said the beneficiaries should properly manage their resources to increase their income.
The Adivasi welfare commissioner said the corporation was providing loans up to Rs 5 lakh to SC families at nominal interest rate. Recently, loans were provided to 400 SC and ST beneficiaries in Ranchi.
The DC motivated the beneficiaries to utilize the loans being provided to them. He said the loans should be used by them to increase their incomes.
