Lions International peace poster contest winner to visit Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Master Tongbram Mahesh Singh, 13 years old, class VII students from Little Birds� School, Moirang, Manipur whose painting has made him the grand winner of 26th Lions International Peace Poster Contest will be felicitated at Jamshedpur during the Multiple District 322 Convention by Lion Joseph Joe Preston, International first vice president of Lions Clubs International at the Inaugural session to be held on 19 April at Tata Auditorium, XLRI.

His painting depicts children of different countries painting together a world with a big dove with olive branch in the beak. Behind the children the chicks are being protected by the mother hen. Water is sprayed in the background by other doves to germinate and sprout a healthy tree. The tree is again protected by the national flags of different countries. At the base thick smoky fire is burning.

This very thought of World Peace from a 13 years old boy requesting to allow the children all over the world to live and play in a peaceful world has fetched him along with one family member and one member from the sponsoring club, a trip to the award ceremony at Lions Day with the United Nations, a cash award of Five Thousand US Dollars and a plague.

Tongbram Mahesh Singh has passed through difficult life, he lost his father at an early age and have a younger sister who is deaf and dumb. He feels lonely and always dream of children playing with friends free from violence and war. Peace is most loving word to the little boy.

Tongbram will be felicitated here by the Multiple 322 to which he belongs. The International Peace Poster Contest is open to students between 11 – 13 years of age and has to draw the artwork between not bigger than 20 inches by 24 inches.

Jamshedpur will be honoured to have such spirited world peace messenger camping here for two days.
