Lions Club Steel city donates cycles to needy girls

Jamshedpur, September 2: Lions Club of Jamshedpur Steel City one of the very active Lions Club of Jamshedpur with lady members actively involved in the empowerment of slum children especially girls staying in and around Sonari and Marine Drive.

They maintain regular interaction with them by visiting Adarsh Seva Sansthan every Saturday where these children comes after school hours.

Regular Health Checkup, talk on Health and Hygiene and counselling are done regularly to make them resist negative pressure and to face the challenges of Life.

Last week in course of interaction it was found that three girls namely Sudipa, Priyanka and Neha Sardar whose parents are daily wage earners had to walk almost six kilometers to their college and school and back every day.

To sustain their family they have to work in local medical shop after coming back. These handicaps were forcing them to skip classes as they have to walk a lot and get late for duty in the shop.

Realizing this the members of Lions Club of Jamshedpur Steel City immediately came forward to donate bicycles to them which they did today in a simple and small function.

Centennial District Governor Rajnish Kumar, Zone Chairperson Pranati Dash, Club President Vandana Mishra, Secretary Meena Bhagat, Manjit Kaur, Sunita Singh, Veena Chaudhari, Jyoti Sharma, Narendra Saggu, Ripa Dutta, Rekha Oraon, Nutan Gupta and Dr Tapas Chatterjee, from Lions Club of Jamshedpur Tatanagar and the staff of Adarsh Seva Sansthan were present on the occasion.
