Jamshedpur, September 14: Lions Centennial Slogan, ” Where there is a Need there is a Lion” saw the Lion members of Lions Club of Steel city coming forward and donating five huge Centennial umbrellas each costing above Rs. 1500/- to the poor and needy vegetable vendors in Mango.
Club President Vandana Mishra, Region Chairperson Arup Ghosh who both reside in Mango, use to see daily these vendors fighting against rain resulting in not only their getting wet but also damaging their hard earned vegetables which they sell in open areas on road to sustain their families.
There is no shade and shelter as a result they have to face many problems for their livelihood. Heavy rain and storm had made their life very painful.
Rising to the occasion in consultation with her club members President Vandana Mishra decided to do something for these vendors and avail Lions Clubs Centennial Scheme umbrella project for poor and needy street vendor.
Lion Members in the presence of Centennial District Governor MJF Rajnish Kumar distributed five umbrellas to vegetable vendors Bindeshwar Prasad, Bhagirath Prasad, Kailash Mahato, Upendra Prasad and Lucky Kumari.
Region Chairperson Arup Ghosh, Zone Chairperson Paranati Das, President Vandana Mishra, Secretary Meena Bhagat, Reepa Dutta, Rekha Oraon two active volunteers Jharana Sarkar and Preeti verma were present on the occasion.
