Jamshedpur, August 16: Tata Steel marked Independence Day with patriotic fervor at its Jamshedpur works, where the company’s Vice President, Corporate Services, D.B. Sundara Ramam, unfurled the national flag in the presence of officers, employees, union members, and senior executives. The Security Department of Tata Steel presented a disciplined and impressive march past, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.

Extending greetings on the occasion, Sundara Ramam, Tata Steel is working as a nation builder. Along with steel production, we are continuously promoting digitization and sustainability.”

Reflecting on the company’s deep connection with Jamshedpur, he added, “Tata Steel began its journey here, and that is why this city is considered one of the most important centers for the company.”

Speaking to reporters, Sundara Ramam highlighted continuing discussions with the Jharkhand government regarding the lease renewal agreement, which expires on August 31. The effort is to reach an agreement soon,” he said, assuring that regardless of the terms, Tata Steel remained committed to providing civic facilities to the people of Jamshedpur.

On global challenges, Sundara Ramam clarified that U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff decision would not affect Tata Steel’s Indian operations. Our European operations may see some impact on customers, but Indian operations remain unaffected,” he said.

Focusing on the company’s transformation efforts, he revealed that Tata Steel was rapidly adopting artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and reduce production costs. This has already shown encouraging results in the first quarter, and we are confident of achieving our targets,” he noted. While acknowledging external and internal challenges, he emphasized that while internal challenges could be addressed, external factors remained beyond control.

Addressing employee concerns, he assured that reduction in workforce would always be the last resort. The interest of employees is paramount. We encourage learning and innovation, especially in AI, to strengthen our workforce,” he stressed.

Expressing concern over rising road accidents, Sundara Ramam appealed to citizens to follow traffic rules. He further informed that Tata Steel’s master plan to manage increasing city traffic was ready and work was already underway.

The event was attended by several vice presidents of Tata Steel, officials of the Tata Workers Union, and other dignitaries.

    TATA STEEL MD’s Office Nearr Head Post office, TMH BISTUPUR, VOLTAS RAM MANDIR BISTUPUR, ADITYAPUR BRIDGE at both sides, Suwarnarekha bridge Mango at both sides DC offoce, Parasi fire temple, Rly station, Sakchi main Jn where 7 roads joining together. Likevthis morevthan 70 points no traffic signals. No deployment of minimum traffic police. Every day two/four wheelers increasing on road. No check on Auto Rickshaw fitness,legal documents. No footpaths for pedestrian in Jamshedpur. Footpaths encroachments by shops and hoardings. No public parking for 2/4 wheelers. Road side permanent bus parking and workshops. Law and order is Zero in Jamshedpur. To cross Mango bridge is every day life risk. Mango Gandhi maidan road more than 50% encroachments pucca shops.
