Letter Writing More Than Communication; It’s an Expression of Emotions: R.K. Das

Post Department organizes letter-writing competition at LBSM College Students pen heartfelt messages to their role models

Jamshedpur: The Department of Hindi at LBSM College, in collaboration with the Department of Posts, Government of India, organized the ‘Dhai Akhar’ letter-writing competition on Wednesday. The theme for the event was “Letter to My Role Model,” drawing enthusiastic participation from students across various undergraduate and postgraduate departments.

Preserving Emotional Connection in a Digital Age

Addressing the participants, Assistant Superintendent Raj Kishore Das emphasized that letter writing is not merely a medium of communication but a profound expression of sensitivity, respect, and intimacy.

“The ‘Dhai Akhar’ initiative symbolizes love, respect, and true emotions. It remains deeply relevant even in today’s digital era,” Das stated. “Writing to a role model is an act of self-reflection that aids in character building. This campaign plays a vital role in reconnecting the new generation with writing, language, and core values.”

Impact on Personality Development

Dr. Vijay Prakash, Head of the Commerce Department, encouraged students to actively participate in such extracurricular activities, noting that they are essential for the holistic development of talent and personality.

Echoing these sentiments, Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Hindi Department, described letter writing as a premier form of communication and creativity.

“Writing to a role model is an exciting experience. We are often drawn to someone and aspire to be like them. Just as one lamp lights another, our personalities are shaped by the light of our role models,” Dr. Kumar remarked. He further lauded the Department of Posts for encouraging physical letter writing in the age of social media, calling it a “praiseworthy effort to strengthen human emotions.”

Organizational Success

The successful execution of the competition was supported by a dedicated team including Postal Assistant Pushpendra, Postal Overseer Vinay Kesari, ABPM Bapi Mandal, and BPMs Harsh Shukla and Mohan Babu. Faculty members Dr. Prashant (Psychology), Dr. K.K. Kamalendu (History), and Dr. Rani (Commerce) also played instrumental roles in managing the event.
