Ranchi, Sep 4: Newly appointed Jharkhand BJP president and Lok Sabha MP from Chaibasa Laxman Gilua took charge of his office on Sunday in a function held in the state capital.
A large number of BJP leaders and members were present to witness the joining of party presidentís office by Gilua. Chief Minister Raghubar Das, former CM Arjun Munda, former deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and MP from Khunti Kariya Munda were present on the occasion along with Union ministers Sudarshan Bhagat and Jayant Sinha.
The CM said the party expected Gilua to live up to the expectations of the people of Jharkhand and strengthen the presence of the government. He said the good work being done by the government should be taken to the people who should be empowered through awakening and campaigning. He said the party should take the lead to ensure that the light of development reached the last man in the state.
Gilua assured to take necessary measures and make changes accordingly to ensure that the party organization went from strength to strength in all districts. He said the problems of the people, especially tribal communities and villagers should be taken up by all district presidents and members of the party. Solution to these problems should be provided at the earliest to keep the faith of the people in government intact.
Many MPs and MLAs from different constituencies across Jharkhand also attended the function.
Gilua was appointed as the new Jharkhand BJP chief by the partyís central leadership recently. He took over Tala Marandi who resigned on August 11 last. An announcement to this effect was made in New Delhi by the BJP central leadership.
Gilua had won from West Singhbhum in the Lok Sabha polls of 2014, defeating Geeta Koda, wife of former Chief Minister Madhu Koda.
