Jamshedpur, August 26: Newly appointed Jharkhand BJP President Laxman Gilua says that his main focus is to make the party base strong in the state by making coordination with the senior leaders who have been part of the Jansangh era to BJP party.
Talking to the media persons on Friday, Chaibasa MP, said that he will work keeping in mind the party’s motto ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and would make party base so strong that in the next assembly election, BJP comes to power with full majority. ‘I will work with dedication for the party and the senior and new party leaders who have shown full confidence in me’, added Gilua.
Significantly, Laxman Gilua started his political career in the year 1990 and was the independent candidate for assembly election from Chakradharpur with ‘Balti’ as election symbol.
He joined BJP in the year 1991 and was first time elected MLA from Chakradharpur in the year 1995 and made his way to Bihar Assembly (Jharkhand was then part of undivided Bihar).
Being an MLA, Gilua fought the Lok Sabha election in 1999 from West Singhbhum and became the member of parliament. After Jharkhand state was carved out of Bihar in the year 2000, he lost the Lok Sabha election in the year 2004, continuing the losing streak Laxman Gilua lost the 2005 assembly election as well.
He was back to the winning ways when he won the assembly election in 2010 and also won the 2014 Lok Sabha election.
State BJP President Laxman Gilua is third in the list of five brothers and sisters and no other member of his family is active in politics.
Laxman is father to two son and two daughters.
When Laxman reached out for votes during the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign, he promised over bridge in Chakradharpur and after being elected as an MP, Laxman started the construction of over bridge which was pending since 32 years.
