Latehar, June 24: Jharkhand’s Latehar police has achieved a major success against Naxalites. Seven extremists of the Naxalite organisation TPC have been arrested with weapons. Latehar police sent them to jail on Monday. Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan gave this information in a press conference held in his office.
Latehar SP said that among the arrested extremists are Deepak Oraon (Ichabar, Navagarh), Islam Ansari alias Ravi (Ledhapa Bendi), Rupesh Kumar (Jamun Tola, Pochra), Sujit Kumar alias Suju (Thakurpada, Navagarh), Ritesh Kumar Ravi (Nawagarh), Sanjay Bhuiyan (Deepka Toli, Balumath) and Ajay Singh (Nagdi Panki, Palamu). All of them were arrested from Ichabar village of Sadar police station area on Sunday. Two loaded desi revolvers, one loaded desi pistol, four bullets of 315 bore, four mobiles, five thousand rupees cash, three pamphlets of TSPC and three motorcycles along with other items have been recovered from the arrested extremists.
The SP of Latehar informed the journalists that after being released from jail, Deepak Oraon and Islam Ansari formed a gang with some youths to strengthen the TPC extremist organization in this area and used to call many brick kiln owners and demand levy. When the levy was not paid, they also beat up the laborers in Tannu Singh’s brick kiln. After registering the case, an SIT was formed under the leadership of police station in-charge Pramod Kumar Sinha. After this, the Naxalites were arrested in a raid.
The SIT had received secret information that 8-10 extremists were planning to execute some big incident in Deepak Oraon’s house in Ichabar village of Sadar police station area late Sunday evening. A raid was conducted on this information. During this, all the Naxalites were arrested.
